Nothing
but nature

HIGH MOUNTAIN NATURE PARK ZILLERTAL ALPS: WHERE THE ORIGINS RESIDE AND WHERE YOU'LL FEEL WHAT TRULY MATTERS.

Nature is good for us. But can we also be good for nature? In the High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps, the experience of nature goes hand in hand with the protection of the landscape. Wander through the green thicket without disturbing the wildlife. Sniff alpine flowers instead of picking them. Have a picnic at the summit without leaving a trace. Those who respect the High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps are welcome guests, whether on a guided thematic hike, a bike ride, or "just because", for the joy of nature.

Nature to the horizon: Facts about the High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps

422 km²: That's how much nature there is to explore in the High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps. It is not far from Wachterhof and extends from 1,000 m in the mountaineering village of Ginzling to 3,509 m at Hochfeiler. The Nature Park reaches from Reichenspitze in the east to mount Olperer in the west and from Mayrhofen in the north to the main Alpine ridge in the south. What makes it unique is that the area encompasses all the defining altitude zones of the Alps: the agriculturally used valley floor up to the tree line transitions, the alpine pasture area and the glacier region. The rich variety of species in the Nature Park is not only due to the diverse altitude variation and geology but also to the carefully managed agriculture.

Where street gray turns into forest green and city heat becomes mountain air, that's where freedom begins.

Right in the midst of it: Summer program in the Nature Park

Over 200 guided hikes on more than 30 different themes are part of the summer program in the Nature Park. From May to October, you can tag along with the Nature Park guides and explore the wild forests and mountains with them. Whether it's to the Berliner Hütte, on an herbal hike, for wildlife observation or with mountaineer Peter Habeler, there's something for every type of wanderlust. Special offerings for families and children include events like the Forest Adventure Day in Tux, the Legends Walk in Ginzling, or "Es klappert die Mühle" in Brandberg.
In addition to the hikes, lectures and excursions are offered, covering current focal topics and selected themes in nature and culture. Are you finding it difficult to decide with so many options? Just ring the reception, we're happy to help!
